Hypnos, god of sleep and father of Morpheus, rotates slowly in space. He is an ancient face, reactivated by a new light: the image preserves the memory of matter, but frees itself from fixity. It moves, it transforms, it changes its face. Light passes through it and rewrites it. Hypnos does not show a dream: he evokes its threshold. It is the moment when reality begins to become unstable, permeable, open to metamorphosis. To cross this passage means to enter an intermediate state, where wakefulness thins and imagination takes up space: an invitation to cross a threshold and let oneself be led into an “imaginary reality.”
